Support Worker – Ty Nelson
Orbis Education & Care | Nelson, Caerphilly
Fulltime at 40.25 Hours per week - Annual Salary starting from £28,150.85 (based on £13.45 per hour)
About the Role
Are you looking for a job where you can genuinely make a difference to someone's life?
At Ty Nelson, we're looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated Support Workers to join our team, supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.
Ty Nelson is a small, specialist residential home in Nelson, Caerphilly, providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where supported individuals are encouraged to develop their independence, build confidence and enjoy meaningful experiences.
We believe that providing great care is about much more than meeting someone's basic needs. It's about building positive relationships, understanding each supported individual as a person and helping them achieve things that really matter to them.
No two days at Ty Nelson are the same. One day you might be supporting an individual to go swimming, visit somewhere new or enjoy their favourite activity. The next you could be helping them learn a new life skill, develop their communication or overcome something they've previously found difficult.
As a Support Worker, you'll play an important role in:
-
Building trusting, positive relationships with the supported individuals in our care.
-
Supporting individuals to access activities, hobbies and opportunities within their local community.
-
Encouraging independence through everyday tasks, personal care and developing life skills.
-
Using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches to understand individual needs and support individuals through challenging situations.
-
Supporting communication using a range of methods, including visual aids, symbols and signing.
-
Working closely with colleagues, families and our specialist therapy teams to achieve positive outcomes.
-
Creating a safe, happy and engaging home where supported individuals feel valued, respected and listened to.
We're looking for people who are patient, reliable, enthusiastic and willing to get involved. Experience in care is beneficial, but just as importantly, we're looking for people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for supporting others.
This can be a challenging role at times, and we won't pretend otherwise. However, it can also be incredibly rewarding. Sometimes the biggest achievements are the smallest steps, whether that's a supported individual trying something new, communicating something for the first time or simply having a really good day.
You'll be joining a supportive team with access to specialist training, ongoing development and guidance from experienced colleagues and a multidisciplinary therapy team.
If you're someone who enjoys making a difference, isn't afraid to get stuck in and wants a career where your work genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.
